Job Overview

We’re looking for compassionate, detail-oriented individuals to join a critical overnight wraparound care team, providing safeguarding and coordination support for a UK-based children’s services provider. Working remotely from South Africa, you’ll serve as the first point of contact for carers, staff, and partner agencies during overnight hours—ensuring every concern is managed with professionalism, accuracy, and care.

This role is pivotal in maintaining safeguarding standards and service continuity outside typical working hours. Inspired by the responsiveness of NHS 111-style models and emergency support lines, this position suits individuals with strong emotional intelligence, clear-headed decision-making, and experience in high-responsibility care or support environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to incoming calls between 20:00 and 08:00 SAST, providing first-line support to carers, staff, and external agencies.
  • Accurately gather, log, and escalate safeguarding or welfare-related information following clear protocols.
  • Use sound judgement to determine the urgency of cases and take appropriate action.
  • Offer a calm and empathetic presence while maintaining professional neutrality.
  • Execute handover and workflow coordination as part of a 24/7 wraparound care service.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure seamless follow-up during daytime operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to safeguarding guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Prior experience in children’s care, social work, crisis response, or similar roles requiring sensitive communication.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and emergency escalation procedures.
  • Excellent listening skills, verbal communication, and professional phone etiquette.
  • High attention to detail—especially in documentation and information logging.
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts (20:00–08:00) on a scheduled rotation.
  • Access to a reliable laptop, high-speed internet, and a quiet, uninterrupted work environment suitable for night work.
